Living the Film Life

I got into the crazy film industry in the summer of 2007, as a wide-eyed intern with no experience beyond filming home movies about my pets when I was 11 years old. I didn’t go to film school- I did the opposite. I went to business school.

As with anything, I’m learning the business through experience. There’s no “prep course” before you’re unleashed onto a film set, and rarely is there time for someone to give you some of the basic survival tips. That’s where this blog comes in.

It’s designed to share some of the tips, pitfalls, and humorous stories encountered along the way in a strange and wonderful career that no manual exists for. The primary focus is on the formative years as a production assistant, as well as to provide a window into our world for those who may just be curious.

I’m always up for guest posts and suggestions for content. Send me an e-mail with any questions, ideas, or stories you may have, and I’ll find a way to work ’em in here!
